Central province inks US$18mln ecological resort project

The authority of Quang Nam central province has given a British investor the nod to build a US$18mln five-star ecological resort worth in Hoi An ancient town, to open in 2010.
![]() The provincial People’s Committee licensed the British-owned Qudos Hoi An Company Limited to build the 8.5ha Qudos Hoi An Resort in Cam An Ward of the World Heritage site – Hoi An old town. The project will start this year and is scheduled to open to the public in 33 months. Within the first two months of 2007, Hoi An welcomed over 90,000 turns of tourists, a whopping 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year. More than 80 percent of the tourists were foreigners, who enjoyed long-term stays. Head of the Hoi An’s Department of Trade and Tourism, Dinh Thi Thu Thuy said the demand for four and five-star resorts and hotels has been on the rise. In related news, over the past two months, Hoi An’s neighbor - the My Son World Heritage site welcomed 45 percent more tourists than last year.
