The artifacts, dating back to the period from the 15th to the 18th century, were among 500.000 which were excavated from six shipwrecks at the bottom of the seas off Ca Mau, Binh Thuan, Phu Quoc, Hon Dam (Kien Giang), Hon Cau (Ba Ria Vung Tau), and Cu Lao Cham (Cham Island) from 1997 to 2006.

The artifacts, mostly ceramics products, included bowls, dishes, vases and tea pots which were decorated with images of the sea and forest. This was valuable assets contributing to the cultural heritage treasure of Vietnam and the world.

The exhibition “Echoes from the Sea” was co-organized by the Khanh Hoa Museum and Ho Chi Minh City ‘s Vietnam History Museum. It aims to preserve and display the valuable artifacts found in Vietnam’s sea waters so that experts and the public alike can understand more about the country’s foreign trade activities on the East Sea from the 15th to the 18th century.

The exhibition will last until the end of August 2009.
